Welcome to my world of photography.

On this site, I included some of my photos with my thoughts and techniques on how to take them. I also included a summary of techniques on macro photography (in Chinese).

There is always somebody in life who touches you and changes the course of your life or opens up a whole new world for you. Thanks to David Dong, my high school classmate, who led me into the world of photography and Antony Lin, MD, who gave me the final push. Thanks to Rex H. Wu (My cousin, with the same name as mine, graduated from MIT with a M.S. in aeronautics and astronautics.) who drove me to Westchester, NY to buy my Canon Rebel II (still functioning well) in 1993. And to Steve Kao, MD, remember our photo trip to the mid-west? And for the construction of this website, special thanks to David, who scanned some of the slides for me and Paul Jiang who taught me Microsoft FrontPage for web designing.

One unexpected turn in 2003 was that I completely switched to digital photography. I pre-ordered the Digital Rebel in September. I brought both the Rebel II and the Digital Rebel to Shenandoah, VA in October. As it turned out, I never used the film camera. It is amazing that with PhotoShop, it is like you have your own darkroom at home.

Enjoy the visit to this site. Also take a photographic trip to Bei Jing. If you like mathematics, visit my mathematics site. Feel free to e-mail me any thoughts.

What is in my bag? Canon Rebel II camera body, Canon Digital Rebel, Tokina 20-35 mm II lens, Canon 35-80 mm lens, Canon 75-300 mm USM lens, Kenko extension tube set, Sunpak PZ 4000AF flash, Nikon 6T close-up lens and a bunch of different filters and a Manfrotto 724B tripod.

Most of the pictures on this site were prints. A few are slides. All prints were digitalized using my Mustek 1200 III EP scanner. And slides were scanned by David Dong with his Canon slide scanner. All digitalized pictures were cropped using PhotoShop 5. Except some retouching, no significant modifications were done unless specified. All graphics were done with PhotoShop 5.
